Editorial Summary: So, The Ordinary Retinol in Squalane is a cheap, easy intro to retinol but watch out—it breaks down fast and can irritate your skin early on. It’s kinda oily and some folks find it meh on effectiveness. Store it cool and don’t expect miracles overnight.
Methodology: Analyzed 54 user quotes from skincare-focused Reddit communities up to mid-2024, synthesizing common themes on efficacy, texture, irritation, and product stability to produce an unbiased consumer summary.

The Ordinary Granactive Retinoid 2% Emulsion - i prefer this the most when it comes to TO and their retinoid line. Since granactive retinoid is so new I'm not really sure if it doesn't much like tretinion and other vitamin a derivatives, but it is a moisturizing emulsion if anything. Alcohol, fragrance, and essential oil free.
I was going to get some retinol from the ordinary but thought I’d pulse check here first.
Hi all, please help I used the brand ordinary 2% retinol on my whole face for a week and it’s given me under eye wrinkles the left and right photos are only a week a part. What’s gone wrong is this permanent, how can I resolve this. Thanks for reading.?
Prior to this I had tried really hard to like The Ordinary one, but it broke me out. I assumed this was just purging and stuck it out for a few months, and then dropped down from the 0.5% concentration to the 0.2% concentration but I was still getting more acne than usual for several months. I knew at that point that it probably wasn't purging so I branched out and got this product.
After 2 years on The Ordinary 0.5, I decided to shift to a higher concentration and switched to *Minimalist Retinol 0.6*. And boom again — it’s giving me beautiful results right now. It suits my skin just like The Ordinary did, but results are definitely better.
Then I read on The Ordinary’s site that the new pack should be stored cold. I tried keeping it in the freezer and boom — it worked again, though still just average compared to the first months.
When I first started using *The Ordinary Retinol 0.5*, it honestly gave me wonders. At the beginning I used it once every 3 days, then slowly moved to every 2 days.
Anyway I'm pleased to report I've finally noticed a difference with my sebaceous filaments on my nose the pores finally look empty not full of gunk!!!
